Finally something interesting comes from a reddit xkcd thread

AKA: The thread where everyone casually tried to brag about having a partner.

(PS. We also have this problem.)

"I learned not to put your phone number on your car to sell it and drive it around.
'Hey are you selling a white jeep?'
'you drive like an asshole'"

This is what was stuck in my head when I woke up...

There's a Strong Bad's Emails DVD set.

Oh my god

I hate my computer.

My computer is such a piece of shit. DVD doesn't work, fans sound like meat grinders, etc etc etc.

Here's what I want for christmas. A computer that "just works" (but not because its a mac).
Ready to go, and built half out of parts that I have already (the half that work, not the other half)
And a smaller case too.

Wishful thinking, but hey, I can dream.

Quick Gaming Update

for those interested in the torrential downpour of AAA titles coming out in November, heres a quick update:

-Army of Two for the 360 has been pushed back to Q1 2008 in order to polish the game before release. I think they're just afraid.

-Soldier of Fortune 3: Payback which was pretty much made undercover is coming out for the PC, PS3, and 360 on November 13th. I plan on just downloading the PC version.

-Assassin's Creed has been dated for November 13th and both the PS3 and 360 versions have gone gold. The article title at IGN was clever: "Jade's Ass. Has Gone Gold"

-Harmonix realized that releasing Rock Band on Black Friday would be madness, so rather than being lame and pushing it back, they've pushed the release date forward to November 20th, the same day Mass Effect and Kane and Lynch come out.

-Mass Effect has gone gold and is being prepared for it's November 20th release. Game Informer gave it a 9.75 out of 10 and hailed it as the most epic Sci-Fi since Star Wars. P.S. Rich buy an Xbox.

-Will Write said Spore is on track for its release 6 months from now. He claims the game is completely playable from start to finish and all thats left is testing. He said the main reason for all the delays was making sure the game was easily playable.

-And finally, Call of Duty 4 is still slated for it's November 5th release.

Serenity 2 Not Happening

"A few weeks ago the great Alan Tudyk hinted around to Moviehole that there might be a sequel to Serenity. Fans everywhere instantly stripped naked and took to the streets in celebration, but they may have revealed their bits and pieces for no reason. One of Alan’s Serenity co-stars has responded and said he doesn’t know what he’s talking about...

...Anyway, speaking of Serenity 2 Jewel has this to say: “Okay, okay, okay: Lets address these Serenity 2 rumors before anything else. I have no idea what you people are talking about! Seems to me someone (with a name that starts with A and ends in LAN) said something in an interview that was misconstrued as the sequel being greenlit, which is not the case at the moment. I will never say it will never happen, because that's just blasphemy in my opinion, but it's not happening at the moment… no matter what you read on the internet. You know better than to believe everything you read, anyway! (except this blog… cuz it's all true.)”

I'm 16 etc etc.

Kid gets a lot of credit for using reddit to look for advice (assuming it really is a 16 year old)

Best advice I would offer: Take all this and all the advice you've heard, read it all together so you're sort of confused and can't remember everything, then go out and live life. I forgot the whole thing but "seeing what sticks" (and "shit" is in there somewhere too) is actually good advice.

And the sex thing. There's even a girl on there that agreed. So the sex thing gets its own neurons so it doesn't get lost.

Also, this is fucked up

Guitar Hero 3 Boss Song.

This sounds... hard. I need this game now.

The headline on Reddit was perfect:

"Robot Cannon Goes Berserk, Kills 9. Seriously."

You are wrong Ed.

"Time for the Coxian Express to drop a little knowledge on your brown ass."

Let's take a look at Exhibit A

1 is the first of the 3 towers he mentions. As you can see it is the furthest from him.
2 is the second of the 3 towers he mentions. A bit closer.
Please take note of the FAR AS SHIT EDGE OF THE CITY. So much for the tower being at the edge of the draw distance. The camera then starts to rotate clockwise to face behind him.

That brings us to Exhibit B:

We see the same two towers and we begin to see the close gate of the city. So close I would bet you that between that gate and the church he's standing on, theres nothing. I would say thats the very edge of the city itself. The camera continues and so do we onto Exhibit C:

The 3rd and final tower, the one he decides to travel to. Arguably the CLOSEST tower. Note how its right up against the CLOSE wall of the city and NOT on the "other side of the city". He then heads over there and we get a final view from atop Tower 3

Exhibit D:

A view of the church he started on. He did not travel across the entire city to get there. In fact he didn't travel very far at all.

I rest my case.

Box Nazi

I'm in the middle of moving right now. Trying to unpack everything in the new place then I'm gonna make a fort with the 40 or so file boxes. Then house party once the basement is finished and we get the new 47 in. Fort may or may not still be there. That all depends on Duke.

Maybe this is ironic or just morbid and creepifying. Not really sure. The view outside my window is exactly the same. Just backwards. Some things never change no matter how much money you spend.

Find me a funky futon.

Sunday, October 14, 2007

So yeah, since there was basically no constructive comments on that last post, let me rephrase it.

We want to do something along the lines of a weekend house party thing.

Who would be available when? Post your availability for the next couple of weekends, free, one day, two days, whatever, in the comments.

If its not too much trouble.

Hey Bumfaces

Remember the Poconos cabin trip? Of course, how could you forget.

Well we're actually going to do it, for violet's birthday. Approximately two weeks from now. Whole weekend.

And unlike Ed and Rich's places, theres no money or other people living there to worry about.

Now commence the posts of negativity.

P.S. Whoevers still on admin, put me back on admin and invite Madman so he can post.

Today in Gaming News

Bungie/Microsoft split official. At least we'll never see another marketing push on the scale of Halo 3.

Kane and Lynch sequel already in the works.
Do people in Europe *cough* France *cough* say "oh great another movie where the guy gets his heart broken and dies at the end, just once I want to see a movie about a sports team overcoming incredible odds, or a cop who plays by his own rules and drop kicks an old lady in the face"

Worst Job Ever

Extra in a porn movie.

(yes its 2am and I'm watching HBO)

Calling all Browncoats

VIA CinemaBlend:

Serenity was a massive flop in theaters, but could big DVD sales for the box office bombed film be enough to resurrect the franchise? Alan Tudyk thinks so and he’s excited about it, even if his character is dead.

According to the guys over at Moviehole, Tudyk told them that a sequel could be happening. Alan says, “They had to put [the new DVD] out because they’ve been selling out of the other one and so Universal’s like ‘So, let’s do another one’. And now… there’s now a chance there’s going to be another movie.” That’s great news if you’re a Browncoat or, like me, a sensible person who simply loves a great science fiction movie.

What’s more, the way Tudyk talks it sounds like the entire cast would be more than willing to come back. That includes Nathan Fillion, the crew’s intrepid Captain Tightpants. Except the question isn’t so much about whether the cast will be back, but where we’ll be watching them.

With the film’s box office numbers as bad as they were, it might make sense for the studio to push a sequel out the door as a direct-to-DVD sequel. If you’re a fan of Serenity you’ll probably be happy to have the crew back in just about any form, I just hope if it comes to that it doesn’t end up a low budget feature that sacrificed quality in the name of saving a buck. Come on, that’s usually what happens with these things. On the other hand, Serenity started out as a TV series called Firefly. If franchise creator Joss Whedon can make it work inside a TV budget, he should have no problem doing it on a direct-to-DVD one.

Hot Air Ballooning...

So, we get there and they fill up the balloons with giant fans and then turn on the burners to get them to stand upright. Mom and I were in the smaller balloon on the right with two other people and a pilot.

Next, we take off and float around for about an hour. Lots of pretty things, very peaceful, the pilot took us through some trees, which was kind of fun. We also kinda raced with the other balloon.

Lots of people came out of their houses to wave at us. Dogs ran around barking like mad trying to chase us off. Then the wind started getting "squirrelly" or too hard for them to steer very well and a good time to land.

And that's how we landed. Tipped over. Mom and I were on the bottom... those two people were on top of us. It was interesting getting out. I had grass stains on my back because the balloon kept pulling the basket. The pilot did it on purpose, it's called a rip out landing, because there wasn't enough space to come to a slow halt.

All in all, lots of fun, let's do it again!
